The speaker connections seem obvious with ground on the sleeve of 25mm and other speaker connection to tip. I own 4 uv 5rs newest firmware version and the modulation is very good with the built in mic and with the baofeng speaker microphone on all 4.

It is a high quality. Its a bit tight to solder the resistors inside the plug housing but it is possible just remember to put the plug housing on the cable before soldering otherwise youll be.
You can use a common ground return for the mic speaker and ptt. I suggest that before you cut the cable make sure the speakermic works with your baofeng ht.
